COUNSELING & PSYCHOTHERAPY

Psychotherapy is a form of medium to long term psychological treatment, which operates at all levels: behavioral, emotional, cognitive, etc. It takes place in a set environment and is based on establishing an interpersonal relation between the client and the therapist. The central focus of the therapy is the individual’s experience: thoughts, emotions, feelings, strategies, plans, dreams, interpersonal relations, etc.

Both psychological counseling and psychotherapy address individuals who have a good psychological stability, but are going through various life crises: family conflicts, identity issues, difficulties in adapting to various environments (school, work), various emotional blockages, difficulty in interacting with others, illness, loss of dear ones, unemployment, divorce/ separation. Therapy is also a good response to various emotional traumas, anxiety disorders or depression.

Unlike counseling, psychotherapy deals with more complex issues, which involve suffering and affect multiple parts of an individual’s life.

The individuals who chose psychotherapy learn to develop new coping strategies for the problems they face, irrespective of the situations they will encounter in life. They also learn to be more aware of their potential and to choose a more optimistic and positive side when facing various challenges. Their personal image changes, they identify resources they have and get a clearer vision of experiences they distorted or denied up until then. They become more flexible and open to new experiences, their behavior becomes less defensive, and they learn to be more open to creating and developing healthy relations with their families, loved ones or friends.

Counseling and psychotherapy aim at offering support to individuals, couples, families and groups.

PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING

picaturaPsychological counseling is directed to those individuals who are mentally sane, but who are going through a tough time in their social, professional or personal life. The focus is to optimize their behavior and to improve their psycho-emotional problems.

The main purpose of psychological counseling is solving emotional or inter-personal matters. As a result of the counseling process, the individuals learn to develop new coping and solving strategies that are adapted to their specific situations. They also learn how to efficiently use their emotional and intellectual resources.

Counseling is addressed to individuals, couples, families and groups.

It is a useful tool in solving a multitude of problems: family conflicts, identity issues, difficulties in adapting to various environments (school, work), various emotional blockages. Counseling also has a positive effect on people who wish to improve their abilities to interact with those around them, improve their empathy levels, increase their decision making abilities, or who wish to identify their blocked resources (e.g. creativity).

Opposed to psychotherapy, counseling takes less time and is more efficient when only one part of the individual’s life if affected and there is no need for a more profound or holistic approach.

INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP PSYCHOTHERAPY

poza-psihoterapie-de-grupPsychotherapy is an interpersonal type of intervention recommended when various life situations prolong over a longer period of time and are exceptionally difficult to deal with. It is a type of psychological treatment and operates at all levels: behavioral, emotional, cognitive, etc. It is a long term process, but it provides the most holistic and stable results.

Psychotherapy is a profound mental restructuring method. It takes place in a predetermined environment and depends on the relationship established between the client and the therapist.

Currently, there are multiple therapy schools and methods, which differ depending on the techniques used and the therapist’s training. The common are: psychoanalysis, cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodrama, experiential therapy, etc.

Psychotherapy approaches various complex matters that involve deep suffering: identity issues, loss of dear ones, health problems and various chronic or terminal diseases, traumas, anxiety, depression, etc. It is also used for social shyness as it offers support to the individual in developing interpersonal skills. Therapists also obtain good results for sexual dysfunctions.

Therapy aids those individuals who face less favorable times in their lives: career changes, adapting to a different environment (country, residence, school, etc.). Through the process used in therapy, the individual becomes more aware and expresses his feelings both verbally and non-verbally, is enabled to assess his experiences from multiple angles, and perceives his experiences in a more correct, realistic and objective manner.

The person learns through psychotherapy how to handle challenges and problems that occur in life. As a direct result of therapy sessions, his self-esteem increases and he is empowered to make the changes he needs in his life. The individual allows himself to develop healthy family and couple relations, and friendships.

FAMILY/ COUPLE THERAPY AND COUNSELING

poza-psihoterapie-de-cupluA couple turns to therapy when both partners want to manage various issues in a more efficient manner or when they want to improve their communication. In the process of couple’s therapy, the therapist is the neutral party offering the objective feedback on the “couple’s game”, their subconscious motivations. The therapist is also there to offer the necessary support to both partners in their journey of changing their behaviors and communication patterns in order to solve their differences and challenges.

Couple’s therapy is all about the couple’s needs as an entity, as well as the potential, resources and motivations of both partners.

The situations when two partners decide to go to a therapy session include, but are not limited to: lack of communication, frequent conflicts, and infidelity. There are also cases when one of the partners drifts away, in which both feel a lack of attention, appreciation, understanding and love, and when their sex life is also affected.

Organizational counseling involves creating a communication framework at an organizational level, offering employee coaching, career counseling, and the management of the stress and anxiety generated by a competitive environment.

Although organizational conflicts are common and the problems generated by employees are equally frequent, they are most often left unsolved many times due to the lack of such services on the local market.

Within companies it is common that employees bond, become competitive, envious, and engage in misunderstandings or unfair practices. Stress, anxiety, pressure are all added on top of all these and the daily agenda. This is why the relations between employees become tense and, as a result, the work place productivity and motivation decrease.

Organizational counseling aims at identifying the negative relations and behaviors, as well as their causes, and providing solution to create and maintain trust in teams and open communication channels. It is also a process of finding ways and means to find solutions for future challenges and unblock employees’ creativity.

In an company without tensions, the work environment is more open and team members can focus their attention and energy towards dealing with daily tasks and reaching the company’s goals.

Career guidance is extremely useful when employees are not comfortable on the job they are currently performing, either because they feel it does not suit them, or because they accumulated all the knowledge and skills necessary for another role. Career guidance comes to address these needs and is able to balance the company and the individual’s needs.
